The Importance of Email Security
An attack to your email network could lead to serious sensitive data breaches, as well as financial and information losses and a damage to business reputation. Therefore, it is vitally important to keep your business protected from these kinds of email cyberattacks.
Threats to Email Security
In today’s modern workplace, increased internet communication has led to a rise in threats to email security. There are a variety of email attacks that you could be vulnerable to, including:

Protecting Your Emails
Protecting your emails is key in helping to keep your business functioning and allowing you to focus on what it is you do best.
Multi-Factor Authentication
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a step you can take today to help secure and protect your emails. Multi-factor authentication works by requiring the user to present multiple pieces of evidence in order to log in to an application or website. Usually at least two of the following three are required:
• “Something you know” (i.e. a password)
• “Something you are” (i.e. a fingerprint)
• “Something you have” (i.e. a Onetime Pin generated by a keyring device or an app on your phone).
This makes it more difficult for hackers to access your accounts even if they know your password.
You should use MFA wherever possible. Especially on online systems that hold important data and your email, it’s one of the most common things hackers try to access. Lots of online services now let you enable MFA for free (including Microsoft 365 & G-Mail).
Some online services will already have MFA switched on.
However most don’t! You will need to switch it on yourself to give extra protection. If available, the option to switch on MFA is usually found in the security settings of your account (where it may also be called ‘two-step verification’).
It is vital that you use MFA and that you encourage use in your business wherever possible. Many online systems now support it and it’s often free and easy to setup. It’s so,
so common now for your password to become compromised thatyouneedtohavea2nd levelofauthenticationthatstops your account being accessed!
