If you were to ask someone about the most popular web browser in the world, their answer would probably be Google Chrome. Now, this seems to be changing as new data from NetMarketShare suggests Microsoft Edge is slowly beginning to lure users away from the tech giant’s web browser.
Microsoft Edge market share exceeded 4% for the first time ever in November, cementing the browser’s place as the world’s third most popular service.
The gap between Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome still rains massive and google won’t be falling from its spot at number one anytime soon. But Microsoft will continue to work hard in hope to regain a foothold in the browser market.
Microsoft has taken major steps over the past few years to ensure that its Edge browser becomes a top choice on all major platforms. From built-in download protection, a nifty online Password Monitor, and convenient tracking prevention options, it’s become a very compelling Chromium-based alternative to Google Chrome.
But, to maintain its rate of growth, Microsoft need to figure out how to lure people away from the much-loved Safari, Chrome, and Firefox.
