Not a fan of the new Windows 10 ‘News and Interests’ news feed on your taskbar? You may be asking ‘How do I get rid of the news and weather app in Windows 10?’.  Here is a brief overview of what the new feature does and how you can get rid of it.

The new feature, which displays the local weather on the taskbar was first rolled out in April 2021. However, as many users don’t install the preview updates, you may not have got the new feature until June 2nd, when Microsoft released the June 2021 Patch Tuesday mandatory updates and the feature was installed to all taskbars by default.

When you click on the new toolbar feature, a panel will open up showing the current news, weather and stock prices for your area. Whilst this may be useful for some, it’s not welcomed by all. The good news is, if you’re not a fan of this new feature, it’s fairly simple to remove. Here’s how:

  1. Right click on the icon
  2. Select News and Interests
  3. Select turn off

Once you have turned this feature off, it will not turn back on unless you enable it again.
